Finally back in a movie theater!

It's been weeks since we watched it, but I just have to write about Spiderman: No Way Home.

Michael, Sloan and I were super excited about the movie that we reserved tickets as early as December last year for the January 8, 2022 opening. Unfortunately, towards the end of 2021, COVID-19 cases started to rise because of the Omicron variant which is highly contagious. We didn't want to risk it so we cancelled the tickets. It turned out to be a good decision because later on, alert levels were raised and kids were again prohibited in public establishments.

The situation improved come February and luckily, No Way Home was still showing in theaters. We immediately booked tickets for a late Friday night screening at the Power Plant Mall in Makati.

Upon getting there, we had dinner at The Grid and went around a bit before the 8pm screening. We were quite giddy at the mere thought that we were out as a family!

We then headed to the theater. It was quite surreal being inside one after so long! We weren't exactly watching a lot of movies pre-pandemic, but then we at least knew that we could do so anytime we wanted to. And while movie nights at home are also fun, it's just different watching one inside a cinema.

Thinking about it now, I think the last movie we watched in a theater was actually Spiderman: Far From Home, so it kinda seems serendipitous that No Way Home would be our comeback movie :D

Inside the theater, the one-seat-apart rule was in place, and there were cardboard versions of Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss to remind us of that.

And then the movie started...

It was so good!!! It didn't event matter that we had already been spoiled about the appearances of past Spidermans Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. That did not ruin the experience and we were still able to enjoy every moment of it, more so because the last-full-show crowd was so engaged and reactive. We were all yelling and gasping and clapping in the pivotal scenes. Towards the end, we all applauded. Man, what an ending that was! And what an awesome shared experience after years of isolation huhu.

Overall, it was the perfect movie-theater comeback for us <3

I am just so happy that the pandemic situation is continuously improving and that life is slowly getting back to normal. Hopefully, this is the beginning of the end of the pandemic. Fingers crossed!
