(more than) the fun parent

just a little father's day tribute to michael :) warning: loads of photos and cheesiness ahead! happy father's day to all the dads and those who play the role of one!

mike is sloan's fun parent. ever since sloan was a baby, mike has always been able to make him laugh like nobody's business.

now that sloan is an active toddler, his daddy is his most favorite playmate. they have all sorts of silly games - they have jiujitsu and boxing matches; sometimes mike pretends he's hulk while sloan takes the role of ironman; and of course, the classic horsey-horsey. not only is mike able to come up with all these ideas for play, he can also manage to get really animated, much to the little boy's delight.

i have to admit: i am little jealous about this :) how i'd love to be the fun parent! sloan and i do have our own set of games, but mike simply knows how to tickle his fancy more than i do; plus he can handle the rumble and tumble, while i'm always going "baby! be careful!" i always worry that sloan finds me boring hehehe :)

but my silly jealousy aside, i'm super thankful that mike is the way he is with sloan. nothing compares to hearing the little boy's laughter every time he's engaged in play with his dad. it's absolutely music to my ears!

more than being fun though, mike is also such loving and caring daddy to sloan, and he has been since day one. when sloan was a newborn and i was still recovering from the c-section, mike took great care of both sloan and i. he'd change sloan's nappies, volunteer to feed him, give him baths, and he'd get up in the dead of night and rock the baby to sleep without me even asking - these are things he still does today.

and this is why i am ever so thankful to have this wonderful man as a partner in my journey as a parent. it's an amazing experience and i'm glad to be going through all of this with the most amazing man by my side :) happy father's day, babe! i pray sloan grows up to be like you. i love you :)
