dear philpost, can i borrow a pen please?

i was excited about sending some postcards and a small package to some relatives abroad, but i almost wasn't able to send them simply because i had no pen.

you see, the lady attending to me handed me some forms i needed to fill out so i can send the package via ems. but i didn't have a pen with me, because it was friday and i decided i'd bring a really small bag to work, as a break from my usually heavy bag that carries my kikay kit, notebook, and yes, pens.

for some reason, i expected that there'd be pens readily available in your quezon city hall branch where we went that morning. you know, like how they have it in banks for those who needed to fill out deposit or payment forms. alas, there was none.

and so i asked the lady in the window, "pwede pong humiram ng ballpen?"

to which she replied, much to my surprise and disappointment, "ginagamit ko e." to add insult to the injury, she actually had the nerve to add, "may binebenta ko dito, sampung piso."

ayun naman pala. may raket pala si ate! at ang mahal ng patong ha, halos doble?! anyways, since i really wanted to send the package already and we were rushing to get to work, i grudgingly bought a pen, filled out the forms, and submitted those to her.

as i was finishing up with the transaction, another customer arrived and it turns she too needed to fill out a form and she had no pen with her. matigas talaga si ateng rumaraket at ayaw ding pahiramin yung bagong dating! pissed, and because i didn't want anybody else to fall victim to the raket, i told the lady she can just borrow my pen as i was done already anyway.

philpost, please do something about this. i know it sounds shallow for me to be ranting about a pen, but is it so hard to provide one to your customers? your staff should even be happy that people are still sending snail mail at a time when we could easily access our loved ones thru email or facebook, and there are also a lot of options for people who wish to send a package abroad; kaya sana naman wag na nilang gawing raket yung iilan na nagpapadala pa ng sulat o package thru philpost.

ktnxbye.

  2. I know right! Alam ko, hindi lang PhilPost e. Kahit dati nung nag-register ako for election and kumuha ng NBI clearance, nagbebenta din sila ng ballpen. :S

  3. tito lits, indeed! i was so sad about this :( years ago when i sent a package abroad, they charged me for use of their tape and scissors because they said it wasn't packed right. the next time i sent a package, i brought my own scissors and tape in case they had issues with what i was sending hehe! but i didn't think they'd actually charge for a pen! walang nagbago :(

claud, really?! i guess i shouldn't be surprised. hay naku, sana naman tigilan na nila! i sent the entry above to the customer service email address of philpost, i sure hope they act on it :S

  4. Ako naman po Miss Len, bad experience din.
A publisher abroad sent me my complimentary copies of the comic book we worked on. I thought diretso ko matatanggap dito sa boarding house. Ang nareceive ko from the mailman was a card stating na I must claim my package sa Philpost branch sa may East Ave. So I went there, excited to see the comicbok in the flesh. All went well until bigyan ako ng parang receipt na Customs Chervalu Fees. They want me to pay 2,300php for 3 pieces of Comic books!!!
So I emailed my publisher na lang and told him what happened. They gladly sent me another set but this time via DHL na. And it arrived at the doorsteps of our apartment.
Grabe naman sila. I also emailed Philpost, but up to now, wala pang sagot. almost 6 months na.
Sana naman umayos sila. Like what you said, pasalamat sila at may gumagamit pa ng facilities nila sa panahon ngayun.

  5. jaybee, oo nga i've heard about the fees they charge for packages from abroad. i understand naman if there's a certain amount that needs to be paid, but they have to explain properly why so we'll all be educated, imbes na sabihin lang nilang "ganun talaga" like what they did to you :( itemize nila kung kinakailangan.

good thing you emailed para at least may effort tayo to let them know diba? pero kung 6 months ang itinagal ng email mo na wala pa ring reply, malamang hindi na rin masagot yung email ko. i'll check if philpost has a twitter account, baka sakaling dun natin pwede i-share ang thoughts natin :)

  7. Well, nawalan narin ako ng pag-asang sasagutin nila un. Oh, well, di parin ako nakamove-on hehehe :D

wow! illustrator din pala si Sir Mike! Astig!!!!

Mostly mga indie comics from abroad ang ginagawa ng master colorist ko (i assist in coloring). wala pa major titles like Marvel or DC (I wish) hehehe. :D)

Sana makavisit din kayu ni Sir Mike sa mga Komiks Conventions namin :D
Komikon is on October 27 at the Unilab Bayanihan Center in Pasig. A major event in Pinoy Komiks specially the indie creators like us. Daming murang KOmiks at Graphic Novels dun! :D
