a blog post dedicated to donuts

well, not just any other donut, but j.co donuts :)

it was my sister who introduced me to j.co when we visited her in jakarta in 2007. according to her, krispy kreme had nothing on j.co, which was  a local brand. and it was true: every time we were in a mall, i'd see for myself how krispy kreme had only a handful of customers, while the j.co right across would have a long queue. i guess pina-practice nila sa indonesia ang "love your own" hehe.

circa 2007: my sister and i at a j.co branch in bandung, indonesia (about two hours away from jakarta)
when mike and i went to indonesia for my 30th birthday in 2009, of course i made him try j.co too. his thoughts? first, that it was really good; second, that he wanted to bring it to the philippines, to which i eagerly agreed. aba! mangangarap na rin lang diba, e di bonggahan mo na! :D

alas, somebody beat us to it :P early 2012, we started seeing billboards of j.co, signalling its introduction to the philippine market. sayang hindi umabot yung pang-invest namin... echos! of course i was excited about the news, because it meant that i no longer had to wait for my sister to come home for a vacation before i can satisfy my j.co cravings. i'm not a big krispy kreme fan, i've never tried cello, and while i enjoy mister donut from time to time, j.co tops my list.

how can you go wrong with such quirky copy! this was taken in a j.co branch in bandung as well.
good thing a branch opened near us, particularly in trinoma. side story: i saw a billboard announcing that the trinoma branch was open, but when i checked it out, the place was all boarded up! i was a little irritated - sorry na, seryoso lang ako sa usapang ito hehe - that i messaged them on facebook and blasted them for false advertising. they graciously replied that the trinoma branch was going to open very soon.

anyways. so why am i writing this? wala lang! hahaha :) it's because for my sweets cheat weekend, i decided my treat of choice would be a box of j.co donuts. we even made plans to go to the mall early saturday, because the lines can get insane. but mike, ever so supportive, had a box ready for me by friday night.

perfect timing too because i was having a really tough day. i have to say it did wonders in turning things around and my friday still ended on a happy note. sorry na ang cheesy! and no, this isn't a sponsored post... it's a wala-lang post :)
