'tis the season of giving (and receiving)

i received some lovely gifts this christmas and it's fun because at my age, i don't really expect to receive gifts anymore :) every present, of course, is well appreciated. here are some of the nice pressies i got:

a thomasian doll in an AB uniform with my last name on the breast pocket! this was from my secret santa at work, who was none other than my dear boss, sir bong osorio, who was also my professor in college. considering how he's such a busy person, i'm super touched by how he really exerted an effort to get me a personalized gift.

a set of gift tags. it's a whole box of gift tags for all sorts of occasions - from birthdays to christmas - plus generic tags for instances when there really isn't an occasion and you just feel like being generous and thoughtful :) such a useful gift from one of abs-cbn's lovely lawyers.

mga ala-ala ng kabataan ko! from choc-nut to rin-bee, crunchies to lechon manok - wagi! this brought back memories of all the sari-sari stores na naging suki ako nung kabataan ko. this was from my good friend and former corp comm officemate tetel.

a gift from my fellow "weirdoptimist" dai. i actually got teary-eyed when i opened this, then went from tearing up to laughing when i opened the actual gift. suffice to say, this girl really knows me hehehe :)

a twenty-peso bill. this one was actually for sloan and not for me, but it's also worth sharing. mike and sloan often go for a walk around the neighborhood and they'd always come across a kind old man who's very fond of sloan and always says hi to him. a few days before christmas, they chanced upon the man again, and upon seeing sloan, he immediately took out his wallet and gave sloan a "pamasko." nakaka-touch :)

on the other end, mike and i also went shopping for gifts but not for friends or family, but for those in mindanao, which was recently hit by a typhoon. we got baby clothes, squeeze toys, and wash cloths to be donated to sagip kapamilya. we regularly donate our pre-loved clothes to sagip kapamilya, but we thought of getting more clothes for kids kasi feeling namin marami ang nado-donate na para sa mga adults.

this was our little way of paying it forward, having been blessed much this year. i just created an artcard which i emailed to the people we were supposed to get gifts for, informing them that we have donated on their behalf.

so merry christmas! we're currently on a week-long break from work and i am relishing it. finally, some time to breathe! the past few weeks have been cray-cray as i was trying to accomplish everything that needed to be wrapped up before the break while also trying to have fun in the christmas parties that were taking place left and right. right now i'm recovering from fever and colds, but i trust i'll be in tiptop shape in time for the new year. BECAUSE 2013 IS GON' BE MY YEAR, YO! :D
