repost from my old blog: hello dubai!

cebu pacific now flies to dubai! what awesome news :)

i know the airline gets bad reviews every now and then, but fortunately, i've never had any unpleasant experience. plus props to them for getting more filipinos interested in traveling. remember there was a time when going to hong kong was such a big deal? pero ngayon, kung saan saan na nakakarating mga tao :)

and now here's a chance to explore another country. good job, cebu pac! in honor of this news, i dug up an old entry of when i went to dubai some years back :)

coming to you from dubai :) we got in around 11pm local time last night. it was quite a long flight - from manila we flew to hongkong, waited for an hour for the connecting flight to dubai, which was delayed because of the heavy rains.

needless to say, it was quite a turbulent ride. it didn't help that i had a nasty migraine attack. i barely touched the dinner because all i wanted to do was sleep. thankfully, when i woke up, my head wasn't throbbing anymore. and we landed safely in dubai, despite the turbulence.

i can't believe i'm actually here :) as i usually do when i'm in a different country, i've been saying to myself "i'm in dubai! i'm in dubai!" hehe. also, i've been staring at the view from my room to convince myself that i am indeed here :)

the dubai trip marks many firsts for me. like it was my first time on such a long flight, my first time in the middle east, and my first time to travel for work.

the trip was mostly about work: abs-cbn global organized a filipino expo, the first of its kind in dubai, at the world trade center no less. i played music and did announcements, and hosted the games for the pre-show.

ang daming pinoy dun grabe. from the servers in the restaurants, to the security marshalls at the world trade center, to the show's technical crew! it was pretty hard to get homesick, because everywhere you go, you'd hear conversations in filipino :) e kahit nga arab cab drivers and lebanese store crew, marunong mag-tagalog e!

i did get to see some tourist spots din naman like the mall of the emirates, ski dubai, burj dubai and burj al arab (well, from afar, hehehe), gold souk and the city centre. if only we had one more day, we could've done the safari! sayang :( and i could've shopped more at bershka and pull and bear hehe! but i've a strong feeling makakabalik pa ko ng dubai! positive thinking lang yan :D
