sloan goes to school

after mike's jiujitsu competition last sunday, today was another big day for our little family - it was sloan's first day in school!

well, not school-school, but a summer play school :) we've been wanting to enroll him in one for a while now to develop his socialization skills; plus we've noticed that he gets bored at home since there aren't a lot of kids in our building so he doesn't get to interact or play with other kids a lot.

we were so excited about this and even bought sloan a little backpack where he can put some of his stuff in - just so he'll get a feel of things. mike kept on teasing me about over-preparing for the big day - baka daw isang maletang baon ang dala ko hehe. we even had sloan practice introducing himself to other kids:

in case you didn't get that, he said, "my name is sloan!" hehe :)

the school we enrolled him in is called little sandbox near morato in quezon city. there were only three of them in the group, but i think that's a good number for sloan to warm up with.

when the class began, mike and i waited outside the room, taking turns with the other parents in peeking at the glass portion of the door to see what was happening inside. sloan was excited about the toys at first and his curiosity was piqued by the "circle time".

the lady in green is sloan's teacher mia.

meanwhile, mike and i were all giddy and nervous.

after a while, sloan started looking for us, so his teacher let him wave at us for a bit. but when he started banging on the door, calling for us, mike joined him inside the room.

sloan started to participate more - painting, singing, and dancing along with the rest of the class, though occasionally getting distracted by the toys inside the room. mike stayed inside the whole time, and sloan would glance at him once in a while as though asking for approval or moral support.

here he is presenting his artwork to mike :)

when class was over, mike quipped, "ang dami kong natutunan!" hahaha!

i'm so proud of sloaney :) and also quite overwhelmed at the thought that our baby is now going to school - i was a little teary-eyed! pano pa kaya pag college na 'to? ga-baldeng luha siguro yun! way to go, baby boy!
