james morrison!!!

the title truly deserves exclamation points! three at that!

when i read that james morrison was going to come to the philippines for a concert, i was ecstatic. i've been a big fan of his ever since mike introduced me to his music years ago. but since we're on tipid-mode these days, i told mike we should catch the concert and just get the cheapest seats available.

then i found out that abs-cbn was a media partner, and that meant my boss will be given patron tickets. i told him that if walang gagamit, "andito lang po ako." hehe :) alas, somebody else had already requested to use his tickets! tunay ngang daig ng maagap ang masipag.

and so we ended up sticking to the plan of getting the cheapest tickets, which was upper box b. at first i was sad that we didn't have good seats, but when the show started, i realized it wasn't so bad. i'm super thankful that mike convinced me to go (and paid for the tickets hehehe), because it was an awesome, awesome show!

we had dinner at cafe bola before the show.

the front act was moonstar 88, whom we've both worked with in the past during our radio days. we've become friends with some members of the band and we were really happy that they got the opportunity to front for such a talented musician.

they did such an awesome job! they played their hit songs - including my favorite entitled migraine - and araneta sang along. i also liked how they kept the spiels short and focused on the performance. some front acts kasi have the tendency to go on and on, acting as if it's their own show, and it can be a turn off.

and then... james morrison!!!

great, great show! the man has such an awesome voice. and what energy on stage! there was no fancy stage design, but the lights play was fantastic and the sound system did justice to their skills. there are some songs i wish were a part of the lineup, but he sang a lot of my favorites anyway so it's okay.

did you know that when he was a baby, james almost died of whooping cough? that's the reason why his voice is the way it is. this trivia is courtesy of mike, who shared this with me when he first introduced me to james's music sometime 2008. tapos inulit-ulit na niyang ikwento sa'kin yan ng ilang beses pa sa mga susunod pang taon! hahaha :D

at the end of the show, james called on stage all the crew members who worked behind the scenes and said something about how they were the reason why they are able to put on a great show. syempre na-touch naman ako :)

you know what else was awesome about the show? it was packed with fans who had no qualms in singing along with every song. being around such people - including this guy in the photo with me with the weird hair :) -  is always fun.
