let's do this
below is an entry i wrote in my old blog, specifically on may 16, 2010. after hearing a terrific news from a good friend, i was reminded about how following your heart can really pay off. it was as if the universe was giving me a nudge and i got all excited about my own goals.

in part two of the paulo coelho's alchemist, the boy worked for a merchant who has always dreamed of going to mecca to fulfill a religious obligation. it was parallel to the boy's dream of seeing the pyramids. the merchant said: "you dream about your sheep and the pyramids, but you're different from me, because you want to realize your dreams. i just want to dream about mecca..... i'm afraid that it would all be a disappointment, so i prefer to just dream about it."
i always think about this whenever i get impatient or start to lose hope that i will be able to achieve all the things i want in life. while i am thankful for what i have right now and i recognize the blessings, i just know there's a reason why i feel so passionately about certain goals i've set for myself. and i don't want to be like the merchant who'd rather just hold on to dreams. i want to be like the boy, who wants to realize them, and will actually be able to.
